Founder's Messages
Little Flower Institute of Social Sciences And Health (LISSAH) is established with a particular development vision: ‘Towards life in its fullness”. Human fully developed is the glory of God (St. Ignatius of Antioch). Respecting the life and dignity of every human being and working for their total development is the core of our vision. While most of the colleges are established in towns and cities we dared an experiment by starting a college in a rural set up where students and teachers can closely interact with the rural people and their problems. The courses we offer are aimed at the total development of the people especially of the poor and the marginalized. We started with Social Work and Psychology and later added other skill development courses. Every human person has to grow into the fullness of their life. The courses taught in LISSAH are aimed at guiding the students towards this noble vision. Practical field experiments are part of their courses like rural camps and field practicum for the Social Work students, clinical and counseling practical for the students in Psychology and they are exposed to national and international seminars and workshops. Eminent visiting faculties are invited to share latest research findings in the respective fields. We have students from all over India and from abroad and our alumni works in various parts of the world and their commitment to this vision is our greatest success and satisfaction. In 2018 we received the award from the District Collector for The Best Socially Committed College in Calicut District. LISSAH is established in a very picturesque atmosphere close to Western Ghats in Kaithapoyil, Calicut district and anybody who visits us get fascinated by the scenic beauty of this place. The winding NH 766 leading to Mysore – Bangalore through Wayanad Ghat is a wonderful experience to watch from the college. Our students enjoy the serene campus which is very conducive to study and research. Let us all work for a society where people can coexist in peace and harmony and work for the total development of the people.
