Aims and Objectives


x To impart knowledge about different forms of banking services.
x To learn about the procedure for opening and operating bank accounts.
x To enable the students to acquire knowledge about basics of banking.
x To familiarize the students with recent trends in banking.

Certificate Course Outcomes
After the completion of this course students will be able to;


x Use banking services, such as opening and maintaining a bank account, making
deposits and withdrawals, and understanding different types of transactions.
This knowledge will enable them to leverage technology for seamless banking
transactions and stay updated with the evolving digital banking landscape.
x Efficiently use basic banking instruments.
x Use modern banking technologies and platforms. They will gain hands-on
experience with online banking, mobile banking apps, and electronic payment
systems.

Module I
Basics of Banking – Meaning and Definition, History of Indian Banks, Types of banks- Central
bank, Commercial banks, Specialized Banks, Co-operative Banks, Public Sector Banks, Private
Sector Banks, Small Finance Banks, Regional Rural Banks, Nationalized Banks, Scheduled
Banks

Module II
Functions of commercial banks & Trends- Types of Accounts- Savings Bank Account, Current
Account, Fixed Deposits(fixed deposits account), Recurring Deposits (Recurring deposit
account), KYC-Other services provided by banks, E- banking, Recent trends in banking.


Module III
Basic Banking Instruments & frauds- Meaning - payer, payee, Pay-in-slip, Cheque book,
Account opening form, Draft, Different types of Cards-Debit card, Credit card , Prepaid card,
Electronic card, banking frauds.
